Effects of Paclobutrazol and Mepiquat Chloride on the Physiological, Nutritional, and Morphological Behavior of Potted Icterina Sage under Greenhouse Conditions

Plant growth regulators (PGRs) are commonly used in horticulture to improve crop quality, save water, and enhance plant resilience stress. In this study, we examined the effects of two PGRs, paclobutrazol (PBZ) mepiquat chloride (MC), on health Salvia officinalis ‘Icterina’, a popular ornamental aromatic plant. Parameters such as development, water status, chlorophyll levels, nutrient content, photosynthetic performance, gas exchange were evaluated. The study took place greenhouse with automatic watering three groups: one treated PBZ, another MC, control group (untreated). Only application retardants was made, 0.1 L per pot 100 mg/L solution 2.5 g/L MC. results showed that both PBZ MC treatments reduced plant’s consumption, being more effective limiting leaf promoting accumulation substances leaves. Both PGRs resulted smaller plants, reducing need for soil potting materials. treatment improved absorption, requirement fertilizers. When subjected environmental stress from March June greenhouse, plants benefited they helped maintain activity. These findings contribute improving sustainability nursery practices by utilizing conserve resources mitigate impact stressful conditions sage plants.
